Coming off record sales in 2020, Excelsus Solutions heightens hiring, manufacturing, and marketing

Updated: Mar 10, 2021

Excelsus Solutions’ 15th anniversary year in 2020 has proven to be the company’s most successful business year to date.

Ushering that growth into 2021 means a robust hiring process across the board, including adding new members to the executive team, continually upgrading manufacturing, ramping up new marketing efforts.

“Coming off a year of record sales, we are focusing on building up the company for a sustainable future,” said Mark Laniak, owner and CEO. “I could not be prouder of what the Excelsus team has accomplished and that our work keeps gaining momentum.”

In 2020 Excelsus was ranked among the top 350 printers throughout the United States and Canada, making the 37th annual “Printing Impressions 350” list of Printing Impressions magazine. Excelsus’ business base is specialized large-format digital print solutions. The company’s mission states, “We are committed to creating products and services that fulfill and exceed the expectations and constantly changing needs of our customers.”

With an eye on the future, there has been restructuring in departments while recruiting to fill positions in sales, operations, pre-press, and customer service. The new hires will be guided and mentored by a veteran team of Excelsus employees, many of whom have been with the company since its founding.

Excelsus is family-owned and operated, and the Laniak family is the company’s driving pulse. Son Dave Laniak is vice president of operations and son Chris Laniak is sales representative. Mark’s wife, Carin Laniak, is vice president of customer service, and stepson Joey Adams is a press operator.

Expanding the executive team, veteran print executive Mark McDermott, who spent two decades working with Kodak’s printing operations, has joined Excelsus as president, concentrating on sales and new business development. Tanya Rice is Excelsus’ new controller and HR manager, and has implemented new automation processes for the company’s high-tech operations.

Last year’s growth also saw the addition of 11,000 square feet to the Excelsus plant on Pixley Industrial Parkway in Gates. The company’s legacy of printing excellence has expanded to include fabrication, routing, 3D products, and fleet vehicle wraps. The expansion has allowed for new equipment, plus a secure, indoor location for the application of vehicle wraps.

For Excelsus’ heightened marketing efforts, the team has engaged Dresden Public Relations, a leading Rochester PR and marketing firm, to help manage the growth, with a focus on locally owned and national retail businesses.
